I hope you will pardon me for writing in English, and that you can
understand it. I understand no Japanese.

I thank you very much for including a photograph of the lens described
above. I have had one of these for about 15 years and have been unable to
discover anything about it. The serial number of my lens is 842099.

The lens appears to have been manufactured by Mamiya. Do you know if that
is correct? Our references here in the United States say that, although
Nikkorex bodies were manufactured by Mamiya, all Nikon lenses have always
been manufactured by Nikon.

Do you have any further information about this? If so, I would greatly
appreciate you telling me anything you can. I certainly do appreciate the
Nikomat site and thank you very much for the work you obviously have put
into it. I also own a Nikomat FTN camera, in addition to a Nikkormat FTN
and a Nikkormat EL.

Thank you very much for the reply. Your English is very good. It is I who
should apologize for not being able to write in Japanese.

I looked at the E-Bay site at both the Nikkorex lens and the Ricoh Singlex.

It was very interesting to me because in 1963 I owned a Ricoh Singlex, and
thought it was a very fine camera. I did not know it was manufactured by
Mamiya.

I am certain the same camera was also sold by Sears, Roebuck Company, a
large department store in the U.S.A. as the "Sears 11." The Ricoh had a
clip-on meter which I did not purchase with the camera and later I bought
one for the Sears 11 which fit and worked very well on the Ricoh Singlex.

I don't have the camera or meter now but I still have the instruction
manual for the meter, which I have scanned and attached for your interest.
You can see from the photo of the Sears 11 camera that it is identical to
the Ricoh Singlex, and probably also to the Nikkorex. It is difficult to
read the inscription on the scanned image, but it clearly says "Ricoh
f=55mm 1:1.4" on the lens in the photo.
