[nikomat 18705] Planar 110/2

Planar 2/110 FE from Carl Zeiss for Hasselblad ? improved

The fast Planar 2/110 FE clearly is the most popular lens for
Hasselblad series 200 cameras. It is the fastest lens in 6 x 6
medium format and for many photographers it is a very impressive
"piece of glass". Carl Zeiss has now improved this lens in two ways:

- Two lens elements in the rear are now cemented together to
further increase the performance when the lens is used wide open.

- Also, Carl Zeiss' latest stray light reduction measures are
implemented which increase image contrast at full aperture.
Using this lens at full aperture has become very popular and
convenient in people-, portrait-, and wedding photography.
It enables a photo style where photos are taken on location
? often without tripod ? and the out-of-focus blur of this lens
visually cleans up the image, showing a subject which stands
out clearly against blurred surroundings of a real world,
not simply against a clean but artificial studio set up.
This can now be achieved with an even higher level of image quality.

The improved Planar 2/110 FE did, however, not change its outer
appearance. It still is the very compact high speed lens it used
to be. It can be distinguished from its predecessor only by a
square light baffle behind the last lens element. This is part of
the flare reduction treatment.
